Joplin First Church of the Nazarene opened the city’s first permanent homeless shelter on 4 January 2022. The ministry arose out of a burden Pastor Shana McGarrah believes God placed on her, and the church’s hearts during the winter months in Missouri.

Betty Jean (Cherry) Owens, 88, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away on 29 November 2022. She was a missionary who served in the Philippines from 1964 to 1982.

Wayne H. Brown, 76, of Sebring, Florida, passed away 1 December 2022. He was a retired district superintendent, leading the Northern Michigan District from 2002 to 2015.

Paul’s Promise, a film produced by Damascus Road Productions, tells the story of late Nazarene pastor Paul Holderfield Sr. The USA/Canada regional office and The Foundry Publishing have partnered with the film to produce a discussion guide and Bible study based on the movie.
