
Namibia Church of the Nazarene celebrates 50th anniversary

Over 150 students, leaders, and translators from 42 different countries joined for the 2024 Discover Missions event, held 7-19 June in Nairobi, Kenya. Discover Missions is an immersive experience designed for young adults to discern God’s call to the missions field on their life.

Each week, the Church of the Nazarene’s Global Ministry Center proudly flies a flag of one of the many nations in which the denomination is present in ministry. This week’s flag: Côte d’Ivoire, Africa Region.

Representatives from Malawi’s four districts gathered to empower leaders. They discussed topics such as the holistic child development framework, child protection, Nazarene Compassionate Ministries’ Child Sponsorship, and mentoring.

The following is a first-person report from a missionary assigned to the Africa Region about an impactful ministry for martyrs’ widows. The ministry is restoring dignity to families left behind in these tragic circumstances.

Africa is called the “young continent” for a reason. According to a UNICEF report, by 2050, forty percent of the world’s children will be African. Understanding the importance of introducing Christ to the little ones, the Africa Region Nazarene Discipleship International – Children’s Ministries held a training from March 19-23 on the Africa West Francophone Field in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

Reaching the nomadic people of Africa has been a challenge for missionaries and evangelists due to the hardships of the lifestyle. However, a breakthrough has given the Church of the Nazarene in Africa a plan and strategy for evangelizing and discipling these groups of people.

Margaret Hurst, 82, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away 21 April 2024. She was a retired missionary who served in South Africa and the Philippines. She also served as a minister in Indiana.

In the West African country of Guinea Bissau, the medical situation is precarious. The capital city, named Bissau, with a population of nearly 500,000 people, has only one national hospital.
