From 8-10 August 2025, the Africa South Field (ASF) hosted the Women’s Extravaganza just outside of Johannesburg, South Africa, at the Anew Hotel and Conference Centre. Many participants mark this amazing event as a highlight of their year, planning and preparing well in advance.
The ASF Women’s Extravaganza was the largest it has ever been, with just over 2,786 women (and a few men) in attendance from 18 districts and four countries.
This year’s theme was “Renewed and Refreshed,” based on Isaiah 40:31. The main speaker for the event was Pastor Lucia Mashiloane of Whiteriver Church of the Nazarene. Linneth Ngwenya, pastor of Mhluzi Church of the Nazarene, shared a dynamic devotion on Saturday morning.
Throughout the weekend, the women also received teachings on various topics, including workshops on the Journey of Grace, women’s empowerment, women’s health, and caring for those with special needs. Sermon topics during the event included “I will not be silenced,” “To whom much is given, much will be required,” and “The renewing and the refreshing dose.”
One of the many highlights of the weekend included entertainment, such as music and dancing, in which the women participated. Many of them dressed in traditional clothing and got involved in fun activities, adding an air of elegance to the event.
The women came together to connect with other like-minded women and return home refreshed and renewed to disciple not only their families but also to be disciple makers in their local churches. Also, on Saturday evening, well-known recording artists, Sbu Noah, Ayanda, and Koketso Shange performed, much to the delight of the participants. It was a lovely time of worship and fun for the ladies.
The Nazarene Women’s Ministry Extravaganza is an extension of the Women’s Ministry under Nazarene Discipleship International (NDI). Irene Mpangana, the ministry’s leader, and her team tirelessly organise this event each year.
Launched in 2008, the idea was proposed by the five districts in the Africa South Field. The women in these districts felt that they needed to meet together for mutual support and encouragement to extend the kingdom of God to all nations. The vision is, “To carry out The Great Commission (Matthew 28 19-20) by making women Christlike disciples from district to district, generation to generation, and to all the fields in Africa.”
It was decided that the conference would always correspond to 9 August, which is Women’s Day in South Africa—a day when women are honoured for their important role in the struggle against Apartheid.
We thank God for the team that puts on this massive event year after year. Please pray for the Women’s Extravaganza committee as they plan for 2026.
