
Brazil church raises autism awareness through ‘Blue Service’

The Church of the Nazarene’s South America Region has held ordination services since October 2021 in different countries of the region, ordaining 253 men and women as pastors and deacons.

The Igreja do Nazareno Central de Paulista in Paulista, Brazil, used Easter weekend as an opportunity to evangelize to its community. A Saturday evangelism event was led by the children’s ministry followed by a march through town into the church on Sunday.

Amid the height of the pandemic, pastor Leandro Alves began selling coffee to help fund a church planting project in Anísio de Abreu, Brazil. Now, a few years later, the church is on the verge of being opened.

A team from the Pies Ligeros (Light Feet) initiative in Argentina traveled to the “triple border” region for 10 days to help restore churches in the area and carry out evangelism activities in the communities.

Maury Medeiros da Silveira was appointed superintendent of the Nordeste Paulista District on 2 February 2022. Da Silveira previously pastored Igreja do Nazareno Zanaga.

Adriano Pedroso was elected superintendent of the Minas Gerais District of Brazil on 5 February 2022. Pedroso has been the pastor of Igreja do Nazareno Betel since 1998.

In the mountains of Brazil, torrential rain has caused flooding and landslides that have affected nearly 500,000 people. S.O.S. Brazil was created by national leaders to help those who have fallen victim to these disasters.

José Zito de Oliveira, the first Nazarene in Brazil, passed away Sunday, 16 January 2022. He was 99 years old. Originally from Cabo Verde, he welcomed the first Nazarene missionaries in Brazil

Pederneiras Church of the Nazarene in Brazil is utilizing Jiu-Jitsu as a ministry and tool for evangelism through relationships created on the mat. There are currently 50 people enrolled in the classes, ranging from age four all the way to adults.
