Two new district superintendents in Africa Region
Two districts on the Africa Region are welcoming new superintendents.
Vuyani Gladman Tom was appointed superintendent of the RSA Kei District in South Africa. Jurisdictional General Superintendent Fili Chambo appointed Tom following the resignation of the former superintendent, R. Klaas Tau.
This two-year appointment, effective 1 April 2025, will extend through the 2027 assembly of the RSA Kei District.
Tom began his pastoral journey in New Brighton Township, Port Elizabeth. In 1992, he relocated to Cape Town, where he was ordained in the Church of the Nazarene. From 1997 to 1999, he served at Siyaphumelela Church of the Nazarene in Khayelitsha. In 2000, he returned to his home district and was invited to lead the Mdantsane First Church of the Nazarene. Under the auspices of this mother church, he successfully established several preaching points, resulting in significant spiritual growth.
Hebson Barasa Nagemi was elected superintendent of the Kenya Western District. Nagemi joined the Church of the Nazarene in 1998 and has been involved in various ministries at his local church, the Umoja Church of the Nazarene. Later, he was the Nazarene Youth International president for the Kenya Central District. He was ordained in 2010.
Nagemi currently pastors the Busia Church of the Nazarene and works in prison ministry, where he has witnessed many lives transformed. He is also passionate about evangelism, church planting, and discipleship.
Nagema is married to Lydia Narocho. They have been blessed with four children: one son and three daughters.
