A team of Nazarene volunteers traveled to the area of Punta Parra, Chile, bringing a 3400-watt gasoline generator, tents, and basic supplies to support families who had lost their homes and belongings to devastating wildfires in mid-January. Despite the difficulties in accessing the area, the team managed to reach the site and deliver the necessary aid.

Likewise, in the following days, Pastor Daniel Escobar, along with 12 young people from the Chile Bio Bio District, assisted in cleanup and debris removal, clearing away metal and remnants of homes damaged by the fire. Meanwhile, young people from the district continue to serve in the town of Lirquén, extending their support to the affected areas.

These actions reflect the Church’s commitment to being an instrument of love and service—the volunteers compassionately supported individuals experiencing deep pain and despair after having lost their homes and belongings.

In addition, Field Strategy Coordinator Eduardo Meza was present to provide support by coordinating efforts with the district ministries, promoting collaboration among members of the affected communities.

Among the testimonies gathered is that of Aylin Matus de la Parra, who recounted with profound sorrow how her family members lost their homes. Although her house wasn’t directly hit by the fire, the family had to evacuate urgently. Aylin describes those moments as extremely frantic.

In the midst of tragedy and dark times, the Church of the Nazarene reaffirms its call to be light and hope, remembering that God walks alongside those who suffer and that, as the Body of Christ, we are called to lift up the fallen, accompany the afflicted, and rebuild with love and faith.
