Appalachia Reach Out (ARO)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Appalachia Reach Out in partnership with Turkey Creek Nazarene have both been ministries for many years in the heart of Appalachia. Located on the state line of Kentucky and West Virginia in eastern Kentucky, in Martin County. It was in April of 1964 President Johnson stopped in Martin County and declared the War on Poverty. Martin County is still one of the poorest areas in the United States. 16 of the top 100 poorest counties are located in eastern Kentucky. We feel like God has called us to make a difference in the lives of broken, lost and hurting people. It’s through the Compassionate Ministries Center of Appalachia Reach Out and the local church of Turkey Creek Nazarene we are caring out the mission to be “His hands, His feet, His heart, and His mission” and in so doing we are being “Christ’s love in action.” Ministry happens each day through ARO and TNC. Through our daily work we minister through education, addiction recovery care, food pantry, visitation, home projects, support local Resource Directors in each of our county schools, civic organizations, local churches (not just Nazarene) and the list continues to grow. There are a number of ways to come and partner with these ministries as we seek to be the Kingdom of God here on earth as it is in heaven.
