Twenty-seven young people representing six nations from the Mesoamerica Region Church of the Nazarene brought their talents together to strengthen church planting in Playa Leona, Panama. They carried out compassionate work in Puerto Caimito and El Progreso and brought the message of salvation to the coastal region through a comprehensive Maximum Mission event.

From 25-29 April 2026, Panama City was the center of an intense movement of faith and service coordinated by the Central Field Missions Mobilization Ministry and supported by The Cause, a global movement of the Church of the Nazarene.

In Playa Leona, the main objective was to strengthen a church-type mission (A congregation that a district officially recognizes, but is not fully organized, Manual 100.1). Activities included providing care for children in educational centers and improving infrastructure by painting two classrooms and the school kitchen.

In Puerto Caimito, the outreach expanded to include beach clean-up days and environmental awareness campaigns, door-to-door evangelism, and screenings of the JESUS film. Additionally, a specialized workshop for women on holistic beauty and personal care was held.

The work also extended to the El Progreso area through the Child Development Center (CDI), where oral hygiene workshops were held, along with the distribution of kits donated by Nazarene Missions Teams. Sports activities also served as a bridge to the message, with a volleyball tournament followed by a reflection on Scripture.

As part of the scheduled agenda, an urban evangelism event was held on Sunday along the Cinta Costera. Approximately 50 people participated in this event, which included a dramatization of the message of salvation and a time of worship.

The mobilization yielded concrete results in the lives of Panamanians, registering a total of 37 decisions for Christ: 17 in Progreso, 13 in Puerto Caimito, 5 on the Coastal Strip, and 2 in Playa Leona.

For Jael Morles, a participant in the mission, the experience marked a turning point:

“I arrived not knowing what to expect… I’m leaving changed,” Morales said. “The Cause of Christ wasn’t an event. It was a before and after. God used every hug, every prayer, and every tired early morning to remind me that serving is loving in action.”

Melisa Muñoz, a staff member in the communications department, highlighted the unity achieved:

“This mission reminded me that God is hidden in the details: in the joy of sharing, in the time you give, in a child’s smile. In the end, the mission gave me the greatest gift: a family.”

The work carried out will continue under the leadership of the pastor of the church in Puerto Caimito and the pastor in charge of the mission in Playa Leona. They will follow up with the new converts and contacts established in the communities.
