Luis Enrique Machuca was officially installed as the new superintendent of the Ecuador Costa District on 9 May 2026, at the Church of the Nazarene El Sembrador in Guayaquil.

The ceremony was attended by pastors and leaders, including Mario Paredes, superintendent of the Sierra Centro District and Jefferson Estévez, superintendent of the Costa Norte District.

The appointment was made by Carla Sunberg, jurisdictional general superintendent for the South America Region. Sunberg affirmed the church’s commitment to strengthening pastoral and ministerial leadership in the region.

Over the years, Machuca has served as a pastor in various congregations, including the Church of the Nazarene “El Inka,” the Church of the Nazarene “Bellavista” in Riobamba, the Church of the Nazarene “Paraíso de la Flor,” and, most recently, the Church of the Nazarene “Genesaret,” where he has ministered since 2017.

He has also held district and national positions, including national coordinator for Nazarene Discipleship International (NDI).

He earned theological degrees from Logos Christian University, Florida, later obtaining a bachelor’s in theology (also from Logos?). He was ordained in 2022.

“Serving God has always been an undeserved privilege,” Machuca said. “I have tried to carry out every step and task entrusted to me with my full commitment. This assignment will once again demonstrate God’s blessings and mercy in my life. I pray for wisdom, humility, bravery, and courage to live through a moment like this.”

The Church of the Nazarene in Ecuador requests prayer for Machuca’s life and ministry, especially his new responsibility in the Ecuador Costa District.
