In recent years, the Patagonia North District of the Church of the Nazarene in Argentina has been experiencing a special time of revival and missionary expansion marked by a strong push to plant new churches and establish Church Type Missions (CTMs) in various cities of Argentine Patagonia.
This move of God is visible through the strengthening of discipleship, the training of new leaders, and a growing church-planting and pastoral movement led primarily by young pastors. This process is ensuring the continuity and development of Nazarene work in a strategic region of the country where the gospel continues to make inroads.
The district has successfully trained, sent, and supported leaders who now serve in both new missions and established churches that needed pastoral guidance. Under the leadership of District Superintendent Eduardo Martínez and the commitment of each local church pastor, this collaborative effort has been key to the sustained growth currently evident throughout Northern Patagonia.
The Northern Patagonia District comprises 20 organized churches. It is served by two missionaries — Edivaldo Júnior and Cinthia Galvan, who are actively involved in church planting, ministry development, and the training of new leaders throughout the district. A consistent investment in ministerial training has been made by sending new pastors each year to cities without a Nazarene presence.
According to Júnior, one factor that fostered the growth of Nazarene missions in Patagonia was the creation of a working group during the South America Regional Conference, AME25, held in October 2025 in Cali, Colombia.
“In an informal setting, while sharing lunch with pastors from different missions, we decided to join forces to share experiences and support one another,” Juniór said. “The result was a clear strengthening of the missions, greater visibility on social media and in local churches, and a process of multiplication that we celebrate with gratitude today.”
A concrete example of this revival is the CTM in General Roca, pastored by Luciano Filumil and Katherin Mora. Filumil and Mora were sent from the Church of the Nazarene Gracias Señor in the city of Neuquén, and they responded to God’s call even though the church initially had no location to meet. The church began as a small family group and later moved to a backyard. Currently, this mission is experiencing a period of expansion, preparing to hold meetings in a larger tent while they organize to purchase a plot of land.
A key aspect of this mission is that it has been established and sustained by a group of young people from the sending church who travel to General Roca every Sunday to organize services and conduct evangelistic work. Their commitment reflects that a younger generation is responding with passion and dedication towards a call to missions.
“Without a doubt, the Northern Patagonia District is going through a special time,” Martínez said, “where revival translates into action, sending and multiplication, reaffirming the call of the Church of the Nazarene to take the gospel of holiness to every corner of Patagonia.”
