Gastão Correia was elected as the new district superintendent at the fifth Cabo Verde Sul District Assembly on 19 July 2025.
Correia has more than 25 years of ministry experience in the Church of the Nazarene, and he has served as dean of the Seminário Nazareno de Cabo Verde and as a pastor at the Church of the Nazarene in Achada de Santo António – Praia.
The newly elected district superintendent says he hopes to continue to raise up young people in church.
“Young people bring dynamism to the church, and we have valuable young people. We count on them to continue doing God’s work,” Correia said. “All we want is to make a difference in Cape Verde. We want the Cape Verdean people to know that they have a God who is powerful and that by putting God first, things will improve.”
Correia succeeds David Araújo, who has faithfully served the Lord and the country of Cabo Verde as the district superintendent for the last 28 years. The Africa Region thanks Araújo for his many years of service.
Correia’s election marks a new stage in the growth of the Cabo Verde Sul District.
