Calvary Callender was elected superintendent of the North/East Texas District on 13 July 2026 during the district’s 118th assembly. Callender currently serves as pastor of Lantana Community Fellowship Church of the Nazarene in Texas.
Callender’s new assignment will be effective 13 August 2026. He will follow Dr. Keven Wentworth, who has led the North/East Texas District since 2016.
Callender holds a bachelor’s degree in science and sociology (1997) from Southern Nazarene University, and a master’s in religion and spiritual foundation (2009) from Northwest Nazarene University. In addition, he holds a doctorate in intentional leadership (2024) from Nazarene Theological Seminary.
He has served as a youth pastor in San Angelo First Church of the Nazarene in Texas, Midland First Church of the Nazarene in Texas, St. Louis Gateway Church of the Nazarene in Missouri, and Grand Prairie Family Church of the Nazarene in Texas.
In February 2009, he was called to pastor at Big Spring First Church of the Nazarene in Texas, serving there until January 2018. In January 2018, he was called to pastor the Lantana Community Church of the Nazarene in Bartonville, Texas, where he has served since.
In addition to pastoring the local church, Callender has served on the district advisory board, district board of ministry, district finance committee, district camp board, and district NDI council – all on the West Texas District.
Calvary and his wife, Ceresa, have been married since 1999. Together they have two daughters and one son.
