A youth congress themed “Renew the Fire in our mission” was held in the city of El Alto, Bolivia, in late November 2025. The gathering was organized by the Nazarene Youth International (NYI) of the El Alto Northwest District.
The retreat focused on renewing the spiritual lives of young leaders, reminding them that their calling is continuous and encouraging them to be actively involved in the expansion of God’s kingdom with commitment.
Three main plenary sessions were held on Saturday. The first, “An Urgent Call to Evangelism,” was led by Germán Espinoza, who challenged participants to engage meaningfully in their respective roles as messengers of the good news. In the second, “The Unquenchable Fire,” Pablo Suárez emphasized the need to lead a life filled with the Holy Spirit. In the third and final session, “Generational Vision,” Juan José Paredes called on young people to think about God’s mission beyond their own generation, embracing a legacy perspective.
During the conference, attendees were invited to commit to the mission of God, and several young people joined the Evandis Volunteer Team (Evangelism and Discipleship), led by Abraham Condori, thereby reaffirming their desire to serve God and the Church in a more intentional way.
On Sunday, the virtual conference “Living the Calling” was led by Joan Camacaro, who shared his experience as a missionary in Italy, inspiring attendees to consider missions beyond their own borders. The conference concluded with Herman Alcántara’s keynote address, “When the Fire Cools,” based on 2 Timothy 1:6.
Alcántara challenged the young people to keep the Spirit’s flame alive and to cleanse the “altar of the heart” of everything that extinguishes the fire. Using the metaphor of “ashes,” he encouraged them to leave behind past wounds, guilt, pride, weariness, or self-sufficiency, so that the Holy Spirit could burn powerfully.
He also invited them to “add wood [to the fire]” each day, symbolizing prayer, reading the Word, worship, and service, reminding them that keeping the fire burning is a personal and constant responsibility.
With over 80 attendees, the conference was a special time of spiritual renewal. During the 2-day conference, the Lord spoke to hearts through the preaching of the Word, times of praise, and moments of intercession, bringing strength and revival to the young people and leaders. Many returned to their churches and communities with a renewed commitment to live out their calling and to rekindle the fire of God’s mission wherever he has placed them.
