Jack Eugene Shankel, 90, of Sunbury, Ohio, passed away on 6 August 2023. He was a retired district superintendent who led the Maine District (1971-1988) and the Northwestern Ohio District (1988-1998).

Four men entered Reconciliation Ministries’ recovery program with the goal of getting clean and sober. God spoke to them as they worked towards sobriety and permanent life change, and after graduation they went on to receive local minister’s licenses.

Barry Kennard, 54, of Hastings, Nebraska, passed away 11 August 2023. Kennard served as co-lead pastor of Lakeside Community Church in Hastings, alongside his wife, Krystal Kennard.

David Dayhoff, 85, of Cumberland, Maryland, passed away on 8 August 2023. He served as pastor of Cumberland Bethel Church of the Nazarene since 1962. At the time of his death, he was the longest-serving active pastor of a single Church of the Nazarene.

For nearly a week Shreveport, Louisiana residents were without power during a heatwave that caused heat index values to skyrocket to over 105 degrees Fahrenheit. As elderly residents struggled to keep cool, GracePointe Church of the Nazarene and the Pine Road Area Business Association conducted a “fan drive.”

Andrew Albright was elected superintendent of the Wisconsin District on 19 July 2023. He has pastored the Twin Falls Church of the Nazarene in Idaho since 2020.

For the first time in decades, downtown Oakland, California, has an English-language Church of the Nazarene. Eikon Church of the Nazarene began in 2020 and has radically impacted the East Bay region of northern California.

Cambridge, Massachusetts, First Church of the Nazarene was designated as a historical landmark of the Church of the Nazarene by the action of the 30th General Assembly last month. The building itself was finished in 1912 by some of the earliest holiness people of the denomination. The congregation that has worshipped at Franklin Street has been a part of the holiness movement since the mid-1800s.

Over 10,000 students and volunteers gathered in Tampa, Florida, USA, from 5-9 July for Nazarene Youth Conference 2023. The four-day youth conference for students entering 9th grade through graduating high school seniors featured plenary sessions, times of worship, live concerts, and service projects in the community.
