During the 70th district assembly for the Philippine Luzon district, the district split into two fully self-sustaining Phase-3 districts, the Philippine Luzon Highlands and Lowlands districts, respectively. The election of Sam Galino as the first superintendent of the Luzon Highlands district punctuated the historic moment.
Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Philippines, along with the disaster response team from the Bicol District, provided immediate help for families forced to evacuate due to the threat of the Mayon Volcano eruption. The relief operation was carried out on 28 June 2023.

George Miller, 72, of Carnegie, Oklahoma, passed away 28 May 2023. He was a retired missionary who served for 27 years in Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, and the Philippines. Miller was the pastor of Carnegie Church of the Nazarene at the time of his death.

Betty Jean (Cherry) Owens, 88, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away on 29 November 2022. She was a missionary who served in the Philippines from 1964 to 1982.
