
Ecuador, US Nazarenes unite to aid indigenous community

The Church of the Nazarene in Taisha, Morona Santiago, Ecuador, is impacting its community by offering art lessons to children in the Shuar and Achuar communities. As a result, Lili*, a six-year-old student, won a regional award in a painting competition.

The Sierra Centro District Church of the Nazarene recognized the final Sunday in October as
“Pastor’s Sunday” for Clergy Appreciation Month. A district-wide celebration was held at the District Center in Riobamba on 29 October, while the local churches celebrated their pastors on Sunday, 30 October.

Nearly 600 people gathered to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Church of the Nazarene in Ecuador. The celebration included a ministry fair where all ministry coordinators and their teams displayed their work and invited attendees to get involved by using their gifts and talents to serve in the local church.

Keren Chuiza’s passion for children’s discipleship rubbed off on others and has helped expand the ministry in Cuenca, Ecuador, and inspired those on the Sierra SUR District to step up as well.

More than 65 leaders of 24 churches in Ecuador held the first youth leadership summit for the relaunch of the Sismo Juvenil (Youth Earthquake), which is a support to the ministry of the youth in the Sierra Centro District.

A group of 24 members of the Fischer family visited Ecuador to honor the legacy of former Nazarene, Vern Fischer. They joined members of Iglesia del Nazareno Dios Eterno in Riobamba, Ecuador, in expanding the church’s sanctuary.

Students from the Nazarene International Language Institute program joined the work of building chapels and remodeling buildings at the Nazarene Theological Seminary of South America on 20 April 2022.

The Church of the Nazarene’s South America Region has held ordination services since October 2021 in different countries of the region, ordaining 253 men and women as pastors and deacons.
