
Africa Region celebrates 103 newly ordained men, women
A total of 103 African men and women were ordained at services held across the continent from 5 — 20 March 2022. The district of Senegal ordained its first ministers in nearly a decade.

Juanita Pate, 93, of Charleston, Missouri, passed away 4 April 2022. She was a missionary to South Africa for 38 years.

The church planting efforts in the Democratic Republic of the Congo continue to grow thanks to the efforts of many pastors and leaders to implement oral Bible storytelling in the native languages.

The Church of the Nazarene’s Global Missions office recommended 26 missionaries for commissioning during the 98th General Board Session, held virtually 25-28 February.

Thanks to a God-given vision, a united district, focused leaders, and an Alabaster offering, the Kenya Eastern District and Training Centre (KEDTC) has been completed.

More than 130 people were ordained on the Africa Region during ordination services that took place across the region in October and November 2021. The Church of the Nazarene in Angola ordained a minister for the first time in 10 years.

Joseph Penn, 104, of Hesperia, California, passed away 5 January 2022. He was a retired minister and missionary who served in Eswatini, Mozambique, and South Africa for 40 years.

The Africa Region’s Engagement and Equipping team, together with the Personnel and NMI team, recently held its first Explore event since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mario and Irma Martinez helped establish the principles of the Church of the Nazarene when starting the work of the church there. As they have moved along in the missions work, the torch is being carried by the leadership that they raised up.
