Is God calling you to join The Cause and discover your Kingdom purpose while being equipped and empowered with missionary skills in Pukalani, Hawaii?

This mission intern will join with Nazarene Global Missions, the USA/Canada Region, the Missions Mobilization team, the Hawaii District, and PukaNaz church and compassionate ministry center in being the hands and feet of Jesus.

The Pukanaz church and Compassionate Ministry Center serve the people of Maui, with ministry reaching communities across the entire island. Maui is one of the most multicultural ministry contexts in North America, bringing together Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, Asian, Latino, Filipino, mainland U.S., and international communities, each with unique cultures, experiences, and needs.  They serve families, young adults, disaster survivors, individuals experiencing housing insecurity, and those navigating significant life transitions. They seek to share the love of Christ in both practical and meaningful ways while fostering a strong sense of community and belonging.

While Maui is often viewed by the outside world as paradise, many of the realities faced by local families are hidden behind that image. Hawaiʻi currently has the highest rate of houselessness per capita in the nation, and food insecurity remains a growing challenge, with one in four children in Maui County at risk of going hungry. The ongoing impacts of natural disasters, housing costs, addiction, and economic hardship create a ministry context where incredible beauty exists alongside significant need. Some of the ongoing ministries include transitional housing, food distribution, community gardening, and relationship-based outreach and worship.

Responsibilities:
  • Engage in community outreach, evangelism, and service projects.
  • Support the ongoing work of the local church, district, and compassionate ministry center.
  • Participate in exploring how God's work and human dignity are revealed through cross-cultural service.
Requirements:
  • A growing and active relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Passion for learning, missions, cross-cultural community engagement and discipleship.
  • Ability to adapt to diverse cultural and ministry contexts.
  • Commitment to the assignment, including application process and pre-deployment training.
