Colin H. Wood, retired district superintendent and long-serving Nazarene pastor in the British Isles North District, passed away on 17 April 2026, aged 83.
Born in New Malden, Surrey, England, on 26 August 1942, Colin Wood sensed a call to ministry following his conversion in 1962. He studied at British Isles Nazarene College (now Nazarene Theological College) and later at Canadian Nazarene College in Winnipeg, Canada.
On 9 September 1967, he married Mary Garner of Ontario, Canada. Together, they shared nearly 59 years of faithful ministry and family life. They had three children: Rhonda, Carolyn, and Richard.
Collin was ordained in the Church of the Nazarene on 28 May 1973. He pastored churches in Manchester and Thetford before beginning a lifelong ministry at Parkhead, Scotland, Church of the Nazarene in 1980. He served the congregation and community faithfully for 46 years, including 29 years as lead pastor.
In 1992, he was elected superintendent of the British Isles North District, serving for 19 years until his retirement in 2011.
Collin was widely respected for his gracious leadership, pastoral care, faithful service, and encouragement of ministers and churches across the district. Alongside his district leadership, he also served for many years with the Nazarene Ministers Benevolent Fund and maintained a lifelong commitment to Nazarene Theological College as a pastor, governor, archivist, and supporter.
Known for his kindness, humility, faithful presence, and gentle dry wit, Collin deeply impacted generations of pastors, leaders, church members, and community residents.
He is survived by his wife Mary, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
