CREACOM 2026: “Created to communicate”—a comprehensive training space aimed at the Mesocentral Field of the Mesoamerica Region—was held at Sendas Park in San José, Costa Rica, from 12-14 March 2026.

More than 70 participants from the Mesocentral Field, which includes Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, Cuba, Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico, were joined by others from Guatemala and Mexico.

The event is part of a regional strategy to train those who already serve or wish to serve in the field of communications. Its purpose was to equip leaders with practical tools and strengthen their calling to communicate the message of salvation through Jesus.

“CREACOM reaffirmed God’s purpose for me,” said Patricia Moreno, from El Renuevo Colón Church of the Nazarene. “It strengthened my understanding of the direction God’s message should take in marketing, testimonies, and podcasts. It was a huge success for me. I thank God for every communicator who carries God’s message through digital platforms.”

Over the three days, participants were involved in a program featuring devotionals, specialized workshops, and practical sessions. The Word of God was central to the morning and evening devotionals and talks, and spent time in workshops. The workshops were as follows:

  • Podcasting – led by Brian Utter, global coordinator of World Mission Broadcast
  • Video – led by Heather McLaughlin, professor at Olivet Nazarene University
  • Photography – led by Gabriel Meinert
  • Digital marketing and social media – led by Hugo Lucer, communications coordinator of Mesoamerica North Field
  • Software and multimedia – led by Steven Vargas

Participants applied their learning through hands-on exercises outdoors and in a recording studio, strengthening their skills in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Crystal Gibbons, Global Missions communications coordinator; Carlos de la Cruz, Mesocentral field strategy coordinator; Natanaél Picavea, Mesoamerica Region podcast manager; and Carlos Salazar, regional communications coordinator, shared devotionals.

Individuals who shared an opening presentation and a devotional, respectively, emphasized the purpose of CREACOM 2026—the call to tell the story of Jesus with excellence through surrendering their gifts to the Lord. Many participants responded by committing themselves in prayer at the altar and offering their talents in service to God.

The event culminated with awards for the best teams in the areas of podcasting, video, photography, and marketing.

“Six months ago, I was praying with my pastor because I was finding it difficult to share God with others, but I felt a calling to serve using my digital skills,” said Carlos Nyreen, of Sublime Grace Church of the Nazarene. “At this conference, I saw how God uses communication, video, and digital tools to impact lives locally and globally. This confirmed my purpose, and I decided to offer myself as an instrument to serve God and help others come to know his word.”

As a follow-up, a communication channel has been established among the participants to continue providing tools and support in their ministries. Furthermore, a future CREACOM event is planned for another field within the Mesoamerica Region.
