Nazarene Bible College (NBC) announced on Wednesday 12 March 2026, that the college has appointed Rodney Reed as the its next provost. Reed will begin in this role 1 May 2026, working with current NBC Provost Alan Lyke until his retirement on 30 June 2026.

Reed has 24 years of Christian higher education experience.

“He will be a great addition to the Cabinet, bringing global perspective to NBC’s primary focus of training adult ministers,” said NBC President Doug Pierce.

NBC Board of Trustees Chair Phillip Fuller said that Board members were most impressed by Reed’s experiences—both in academic leadership and in ministry as a pastor and missionary.

“That represents the mission and vision of NBC beautifully,” Fuller said. “He has amazing credentials and a passion for this kind of work to step into this role. We’re really excited to have him on board. We are anticipating great days ahead for NBC with strength and vision.”

Fuller also expressed the Board’s gratitude for Lyke’s incredible ministry in the area of leadership. “We are deeply in debted for his involvement and investment through the years,” Fuller added.

Reed previously served as Africa Nazarene University’s (ANU, Nairobi, Kenya) Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs—its Provost-equivalent position—leading all academic programs for 14 years concluding in 2024. He was chair of the Department of Religion at ANU for nine years. He also served as pastor and youth minister in churches in Virginia and New Jersey.

“NBC has an amazing track record of preparing men and women for ministry,” Reed said. “A huge percentage of the active ministers in the Church of the Nazarene in the USA/Canada Region are alumni of NBC. I am honored to be part of extending that legacy. As the Provost of NBC, I will seek to ensure that we understand exactly what that mission means in our ever-changing world with its varied cultural contexts.”
