Nazarene Discipleship International (NDI) announced its global leadership teams for Children’s Bible Quizzing on 2 December 2025.
The announcement of leadership teams that serve globally builds on NDI’s commitment to child discipleship. Trey and Candice Brooks, who serve as NDI’s global child discipleship advocates, sought to fill out a global Children’s Bible Quizzing leadership team after the resignation of the previous coordinator, Dorothy Whipp. Whipp became the assistant District Superintendent of the Oklahoma District spring of 2025, and served in that role since 2020.
After working with the Quizzing Advisory Council to discuss the needs of the role to provide leadership globally, the decision to split the singular role into a team of three was made.
“Trey and I are looking forward to serving with this team of leaders,” said Candice Brooks. “We have met with each of them and are thankful for their passion and desire to serve the global church through quizzing. With this team’s leadership and the input from the Quizzing Advisory Council, the future for quizzing is looking bright!”
The following three individuals will have different ministry area responsibilities, as well as the fields they will oversee:
- DaVonne Lee
- Fields: North Central (MNU), Central (ONU), South Central (SNU)
- Global: MesoAmerica, South America
- April Litman
- Fields: East Central (MVNU), Eastern, Canada (Ambrose)
- Global: Asia-Pacific, Eurasia
- Candace Tygart
- Northwest (NNU), Southwest (PLNU), Southeast (TNU)
- Global: Africa
Children’s Bible Quizzing is a Bible study for elementary students (grades 1-6) aimed at teaching children about God and apply biblical teachings in real-life situations. For more information about quizzing, click here.
In addition to the Children’s Bible Quizzing leadership team, NDI is announcing new leadership for its VBS curriculum writing. Heather Pillers, children’s pastor of College Church of the Nazarene in Nampa, Idaho, will serve as lead writer, and Kaleb Harper, children’s pastor of Valley Shepherd Church of the Nazarene in Meridian, Idaho, will serve as assistant writer.
Previously, Cheryl Crouch served as the lead writer. She was elected Global Nazarene Missions International (NMI) director in December 2024.
“Candice and I are thankful that Heather and Kaleb have agreed to write VBS while they continue to serve their local churches,” Trey said. “They are experienced and creative Children’s Pastors who will continue to develop this discipleship resource that will help kids know, love, and follow Jesus.”
Each year, NDI releases a free-to-download VBS curriculum. To find this year’s curriculum and an archive of past editions, click here.
