The Mozambique Matola District Centre of the Church of the Nazarene hosted one of the most significant events in the church’s annual calendar: the Evangelical Expansion Service – Avante Evangelho 2025. The service, held on 27 July 2025, was a day filled with spiritual, missionary fervour and unity among believers. Those who attended the service enthusiastically responded to the call to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ.
From the early hours of the morning, hundreds of members from the various local churches in the district began arriving, filling the church with joy, anticipation, and reverence. Men, women, youth, and children were present, forming a crowd united by a common faith and purpose: to worship God and renew their commitment to the mission of evangelisation.
The service was carefully organised to provide meaningful moments of praise, worship, fellowship, and surrender. District and local worship groups and choirs sang powerful hymns that extolled the majesty of God and invited all present to surrender in worship.
One of the most symbolic and memorable moments of the ceremony was the “Gospel Forward,” a solemn act in which each local church was called to contribute financially to advance the missionary work within the district. This moment was not merely administrative or ceremonial; it was an act of faith, sacrifice, and obedience. The contributions, the fruit of the believers’ hard work, dedication, and generosity, represent seeds planted in the kingdom of God, with the anticipation that he will bring an abundant harvest.
In addition to a powerful sermon, the service also highlighted the importance of keeping the missionary flame burning in people’s hearts, regardless of the circumstances. It was a clear call to everyone, as a church, to move forward with boldness, faith, and perseverance to bring the gospel to every corner of the district, the country, and the African continent.
At the end of the service, the familiar feeling was one of deep gratitude, spiritual joy, and renewed commitment. Those in attendance emerged from the service with new strength, new vision, and an even greater determination to advance the gospel—not out of obligation, but out of passion and conviction.
