Remembering Gregorio Bin

by | 01 Nov 2019

Pastor and former district superintendent Gregorio Bin passed away 16 October 2019. He was 78 years old.

Gregorio was born on April 19, 1941, in Tactic, Guatemala.

When he felt God’s call upon his life to become a pastor, he began studying at the Kekchí Educational Center in San Juan Chamelco. Gregorio continued studying at the Nazarene Bible Institute in Coban and then transferred to the Nazarene Seminary in San José, Costa Rica, where he graduated in 1975.

He married his wife, Rosa Co, in 1969. They had two daughters, Deysi and Selma. He was ordained as an elder in 1978.

Gregorio pastored churches in Santa Cruz Verapaz, Campur, Tamahú, San Miguel Tucurú, and Sebahu. The family returned to San Juan Chamelco, where Rosa also pastored from 1976 to 1981. In 1982, Gregorio was elected superintendent of the Nor-Este District.

He returned to San Juan Chamelco as a co-pastor in 2001 and was the general pastor from 2007 until he passed away.

Gregorio is remembered fondly as a man of compassion for those who were lost and as a humble servant of the Lord. He was known for his compassion in times of disaster, coordinating food drives multiple times for communities and victims in need of support.

In May, the San Juan Chamelco church hosted a celebration in honor of the 50 years of marriage and ministry for the Bin family.

Gregorio is survived by his wife, Rosa, and their two daughters.
