After his graduation, he became the pastor of a church in Cherry Grove for four years before moving on to another church in Swartz Creek in 1961, where he served for 14 years.

After his pastorate in Swartz Creek, Hoose served as an evangelist in Michigan for one year before accepting another pastorate in Hastings in 1976. Hoose went on to serve as a pastor in Reed City in 1979 before he was elected Northern Michigan District superintendent in 1986, serving until his retirement in 1997.

Hoose returned to pastoring, leading churches in Pickford from 2000 to 2005 and in Cadillac from 2005 to 2010.
