Tim Eades, SNU’s Provost and Chief Academic Officer, shared with the faculty senate and faculty body this spring an announcement of the formation of a two College academic structure that becomes effective May 11, 2020. Eades introduced the:

  • • College of Undergraduate Studies
  • • College of Professional and Graduate Studies

Steven Betts has been appointed the Vice President of Academic Affairs for the College of Undergraduate Studies. In this work, Betts will serve as chief academic administrator of the College spanning the schools, divisions, and departments of undergraduate studies at the Bethany campus. Betts has most recently served as Dean of the College of Humanities and Education and is completing his 15th year at SNU. Betts shared, “I look forward to helping SNU achieve its mission of making Christlike disciples through higher education. We have a great team in place to move to the next chapter of SNU's influence for Christ's kingdom."

Mark Winslow has been appointed the Vice President of Academic Affairs for the College of Professional and Graduate Studies. In this work, Winslow will serve as chief academic administrator of the college spanning all Professional Studies and Graduate Studies programming delivered online and in Bethany, Del City, Tulsa, and graduate education site locations across Oklahoma.

Winslow has most recently served as Dean of the College of Natural, Social, and Health Sciences and is completing his 16th year at SNU. Dr. Winslow shared, “It will be an honor to work alongside the exceptional Professional and Graduate Studies faculty and staff who are devoted to the SNU mission and focused on new opportunities and growth through strong academic programs. Working together, we anticipate great days ahead in accomplishing God's purposes through providing an outstanding educational experience for all our adult learners."

Both Winslow and Betts will work directly with the Provost related to all current and future planning for SNU academics.

Eades said, “I was thrilled to collaborate with President Newman on the formation of this two College structure to serve the SNU academic enterprise. Winslow and Betts are servant leaders, deeply talented academicians with years of classroom and leadership experience, and trusted partners with the faculty of SNU.”

The new academic structure represents a flattening of SNU’s academic organization and creates alignment, synergy, and a nimble posture for a changing academic landscape. Betts, Winslow and the two Colleges will work within an excellent shared governance framework of Academic Council, Professional Studies Council, Graduate Studies Council and Faculty Senate.

The Cameroon flag is a vertical tricolor of green, red and yellow, defaced with a five-pointed star in its center. The center stripe is thought to stand for unity: red is the colour of unity, and the star is referred to as "the star of unity." The yellow stands for the sun and also the savannas in the northern part of the country, while the green is for the forests in the southern part of Cameroon.
