Compassionate ministry center responds after mass shooting

Compassionate ministry center responds after mass shooting

by | 09 Aug 2019

In less than a week, shootings in Gilroy, California; El Paso, Texas; and Dayton, Ohio, have left 35 people dead and dozens of others wounded. A woman at El Paso First Church of the Nazarene lost both her son and daughter-in-law, who leave behind three young children.

Mission: El Paso!, a Nazarene Compassionate Ministry Center in the New Mexico District, is responding directly alongside El Paso First Church to host a funeral and reception, with any extra funds going to the couple’s children. The ministry is also working with hospitals in El Paso and covering cafeteria costs for the families of the 26 people who are hospitalized.

“As the church, it is our mission and call to live in solidarity with those who suffer from violence and injustice,” said Brandon Sipes, NCM disaster management advisor.
