More than 100 Nazarene Youth International members from the Central Church of the Nazarene in San Juan Chamelco, Guatemala, participated in a Maximum Mission event 17-19 April.

They served in the nearby village of Xaliha, where they worked with children, cleaned local school facilities, and finished the construction on a new church building.

The first day, the volunteers broke up into work groups that focused on several service areas, including children, evangelism, and compassion.

The second day, they cleaned the school facilities in Xaliha, and they worked on the building construction. They also taught children in the community about Jesus through crafts, dancing, puppets, and mimes.

On the third day, the youth distributed cleaning supplies, clothes, and toys to the children. They also finished the construction of the church building, planted trees around the church, and showed the JESUS film to the community, where four people recommitted their lives to the Lord.

"As a congregation with a young spirit, we feel blessed for what was done knowing that the seed was planted in the hearts of all children, youth, and adults," said Jeyson Cuz, Verapaz del Norte district communications coordinator.
