In Memoriam: 17 June 2022
The following is a weekly listing of Nazarene ministers and leaders who recently went home to be with the Lord. Notices were received 13-17 June 2022.
Alfred Bowden, 93, of Fairborn, Ohio, passed away 12 June 2022. He was a retired minister who served in Florida. He is survived by his wife, Helen Bowden.
Wanelda Cook, 93, of Howell, Michigan, passed away 8 June 2022. She was the widow of George Cook, a retired minister who served in Michigan. George passed away in 1995.
Ronnie Hart, 73, of Longview, Texas, passed away 9 June 2022. He was a retired minister who served in Texas. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Hart.
Joyce Mathis, 91, of Rio Dell, California, passed away 1 June 2022. She was the widow of Bob Mathis, a retired minister who served in California and Idaho. Bob passed away in 2002.
Phyllis Richards, 83, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away 23 May 2022. She was a retired song evangelist who served in Indiana. She is survived by her husband, Larry Richards.
Eugene Simpson, 92, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away 14 June 2022. He was a retired district superintendent, who led the North Carolina district from 1986-1996. He served as a minister in Florida, Kansas, Indiana, and Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Frances Simpson.
Ruth Ann Verge, 78, of Wichita Kansas, passed away 10 June 2022. She was the widow of Elisha Verge Sr, a retired minister who served in Kansas. Elisha passed away in 2020.
Harry Wales, 93, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away 7 June 2022. He was a retired minister who served in Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Wales, who passed away in 2021.
