The following is a weekly listing of Nazarene ministers and leaders who recently went home to be with the Lord. Notices were received 6-10 February 2023.

George Ballard Jr., 65, of Daleville, Indiana, passed away 6 February 2023. He was a retired minister who served in Indiana. He is survived by his wife, Gina Ballard.

Virginia Betzer, 95, of Hayward, California, passed away 5 February 2023. She was the widow of Thomas Betzer, a retired minister who served in California.

Beatrice Boone, 77, of Camanche, Iowa, passed away 2 February 2023. She was the wife of R. G. Boone, a retired minister and chaplain who served in Indiana, Michigan, and Illinois. 

A. Wendell Bowes, 77, of Nampa, Idaho, passed away 4 February 2023. He was a minister who served in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and an educator in Idaho. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Bowes. 

John Dodds, 87, of Saint Marys, Ohio, passed away 3 February 2023. He was an evangelist that served in Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Dodds.

Dorothy Gunstream, 96, of Billings, Montana, passed away 29 January 2023. She was the widow of R. Nelman Gunstream, a retired minister who served in California. Nelman passed away in 2003.

Carolyn Hoyt, 80, of Arcadia, California, passed away 26 January 2023. She was the wife of Robert Hoyt, a minister who served in California. 

Mary Hudspeth, 77, of Strathmore, California, passed away 28 January 2023. She was a retired minister who served in California. She is survived by her husband, Orville Hudspeth. 

Bernard Johnson, 89, of Longview, Texas, passed away 31 January 2023. He was a retired minister who served in Minnesota, Missouri, Iowa, and Texas. He is survived by his wife, Naomi Johnson.

Bill Lancaster, 88, of Owens Cross Roads, Alabama, passed away 4 February 2023. He was a retired district superintendent who led the Mississippi District from 1980-1987, and the Houston District from 1987-2000. He served as a minister in Alabama and North Carolina. He is survived by his wife, Retha Lancaster.

Wen Tao Lou, 56, of Temple City, California, passed away 10 January 2023. He was a minister who served at Rosemead Church of the Nazarene. He is survived by his wife, Xiaoyan Ou.

Joe Melvin, 89, of Greenup, Kentucky, passed away 7 February 2023. He was the widow of L. Dolores Melvin, a retired minister who served in Kentucky. Dolores passed away in 1995.

Catherine Smith, 93, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away 2 February 2023. She was a missionary who served in Haitia, St., Lucia, and Martinique for 23 years. She is the widow of Gene Smith, who she served alongside. Gene passed away in 2000.

Gene Thompson, 85, of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, passed away 4 February 2023.He was a minister and evangelist who served in Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Thompson.
