New MNU certificate program focuses on teaching online

New MNU certificate program focuses on teaching online

by | 18 Dec 2015

Teaching students online requires strategies and skills that differ from face-to-face teaching. Students who want to become more effective at teaching in a virtual environment have a new way to reach that goal. MidAmerica Nazarene University will start a certificate program in teaching online in January 2016. The program is designed for anyone with a bachelor’s degree or above who wants to teach online in public, corporate, or college environments, and a teaching certificate is not required.

The program meets online and consists of 12 credit hours that can be completed in one year. Taught by MNU professors with significant experience in the virtual classroom, students and professors in the program will meet one another through real-time webcasts using virtual collaboration tools such as Adobe Connect. Additional work will be completed online at the students’ convenience.

The new program joins 19 other professional and graduate programs provided for working adults by the university. In 1987 MNU was one of the first universities to enter the accelerated adult and graduate degree market in the Kansas City area.
