Dallas District elects new superintendent

by | 15 Jul 2016

General Superintendent David A. Busic announced the election of Keven Wentworth as superintendent of the Dallas District

Elected July 11 on the first ballot, Wentworth replaces Curtis Lewis Jr., who was appointed interim district superintendent in March 2015.

Wentworth currently pastors the Beavercreek, Ohio, Church of the Nazarene, where he lives with his wife, Pam. He will begin his new assignment August 11.

“Pam and I were extremely honored at the response of the awesome families on the Dallas District,” Keven said. “The leadership, the pastors, and delegates have opened their hearts to us in such a loving manner. The families I leave behind are so very dear to us here at Beavercreek, but God has taken us to the next step in our lives. We are excited to be walking on an adventure with the pastors, their families, and the families that make up the ministry centers throughout the northeast part of Texas.”

After graduating from Olivet Nazarene College (now University) with a Bachelor of Arts in business administration and accounting, Keven felt a call to ministry and accepted a ministerial position in Lombard, Illinois. He held additional positions as a youth and worship pastor at churches in Odessa, Texas; Jasper, Alabama; and Conway, Arkansas, before accepting a senior pastorate in Conroe, Texas, in 1983. Four years later, he became pastor of San Antonio, Texas, First Church of the Nazarene, serving there for 10 years before moving to Beavercreek.

Wentworth also earned a Master of Ministry from Southern Nazarene University and received an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. He is a member of the Church of the Nazarene General Board.

The Cameroon flag is a vertical tricolor of green, red and yellow, defaced with a five-pointed star in its center. The center stripe is thought to stand for unity: red is the colour of unity, and the star is referred to as "the star of unity." The yellow stands for the sun and also the savannas in the northern part of the country, while the green is for the forests in the southern part of Cameroon.
