Cuba churches unite to serve storm victims

The Church of the Nazarene worked alongside other denominations to prepare and deliver food to communities affected by a recent storm with damaging winds. The volunteers assembled and delivered 80 boxes of food, but the number of storm victims significantly increased, so many victims only received water. 

Preliminary reports indicated more than 2,000 homes were affected, said Otoniel Fernandez, Cuba Church of the Nazarene communications coordinator. Of those, 205 were completely destroyed, while 903 were partially destroyed. Nearly 400 homes lost their roofs and 217 had partial roof damage. The municipality of Regla and the community 10 de Octubre in Luyano were the areas most affected by the storm.

“The church in Cuba begs for your prayers and continued cooperation following this tragedy,” Fernandez said.
