Trevecca breaks all-time enrollment record

Trevecca breaks all-time enrollment record

by | 28 Sep 2015

For the second consecutive year, Trevecca Nazarene University has broken its all-time enrollment record in traditional undergraduate students. After the first week of classes, the university recorded an enrollment of 1,245, marking the first time numbers have topped 1,200 in university history.

Last fall, Trevecca broke a 113-year all-time enrollment record with 1,115 traditional undergraduate students. This year’s numbers reflect a 12 percent increase over that record-breaking enrollment. In addition, the fall enrollment number marks a 25 percent increase in traditional undergraduate students over the past five years.

A large incoming freshmen class and increased number of transfer students, as well as a high retention rate of current students, all played a part.

“These are exciting times at Trevecca,” said Holly Whitby, Trevecca’s associate provost and dean of enrollment. “The word is out about Trevecca. People are starting to take note of the great education Trevecca provides within the context of a thriving Christian community. This fall’s new students hailed from 36 states and 16 countries. I’m thankful for the growth we’ve achieved and anticipate great days ahead.”

Trevecca is also seeing significant growth in its non-traditional programs. While new non-traditional students will continue to enroll throughout the fall semester, Tim Eades, associate provost of graduate and continuing studies, reports that approximately 500 new students will start their programs this fall. This represents 100 percent growth from last fall.

The total student population is approximately 2,700 students.
