Gilberto Évora, a retired Nazarene pastor, district superintendent, and missionary, went home to be with the Lord October 13 at age 90.

He pastored several local churches in Cabo Verde and was the first national elected district superintendent in Cabo Verde. Évora also served as a missionary in Senegal and as a pastor in the Netherlands.

"We pray that the Lord will comfort his family, the church, and community in Cabo Verde, as well as the whole of Africa, as we mourn the loss of a great leader," said Filimao Chambo, Africa regional director. "We celebrate the life of a minister who dedicated all his life to serve the Lord and His people.”

Written on behalf of the Church of the Nazarene in Cabo Verde, Africa Region, and globally.

The Cameroon flag is a vertical tricolor of green, red and yellow, defaced with a five-pointed star in its center. The center stripe is thought to stand for unity: red is the colour of unity, and the star is referred to as "the star of unity." The yellow stands for the sun and also the savannas in the northern part of the country, while the green is for the forests in the southern part of Cameroon.
