The Philippines Field recently sent its third team of young people on a local missions trip. The group of eight served at Panabo Church of the Nazarene in Davao del Norte, Philippines. The team was led by Field Youth Coordinator Girle Ann Dado and Kevin and Janet Wilkins, field Work & Witness coordinators.

The participants were excited to witness how God works through the local church as well as the team members’ lives in order to impact the community. Since the team members are professionals and most have full-time jobs, serving on a missions trip is a sacrifice for them. Despite the challenges, the Lord provided ways to make this missions trip happen.

For three days, the team worked at the church, painting the newly constructed training center and outside walls and varnishing the doors. They also installed lighting fixtures outside the church. The training center will be used by the local church and the district to educate and train lay people and pastors about church planting while offering the Course of Study.

“With a grateful heart as part of the Panabo NYI, I give thanks to the Lord for the lives of these sisters and brothers, who not only helped us in the beautification of the building but also showed us amazing things that God can do when you follow His will in your life,” said Irish, a member of the team.

The team also had various opportunities to witness to those in the community. They gave away gifts to children through a partnership with Samaritan’s Purse. They were able to have fellowship with other youth in the community and had a great time playing games, worshipping God, and sharing the Word.

The missions trip to Panabo church impacted the young people, who were able to witness and experience the service and hospitality of the local church. They enjoyed working alongside the local church family.

“This missions trip encourages me that someday I’ll be part of those who are sent as missionaries,” said Renz from Eastern Visayas District.
