Eastern Nazarene College will add men’s volleyball, men’s outdoor track and field, and women’s outdoor track and field to its varsity sports offerings beginning in 2016-2017, expanding the Athletic Department to 15 varsity programs.

“The addition of these sports builds on the strong sense of community that is emblematic of the ENC experience, which allows prospective student-athletes the opportunity to take advantage of our excellent academic offerings while playing a sport they love,” said Brad Zarges, director of Athletics. “It is truly an exciting time to be a part of Eastern Nazarene College and ENC Athletics."

ENC President Corlis McGee credited Zarges and his athletic leadership team with having a vision for ENC athletics that maintains a strong focus on shaping students’ lives through sports.

“ENC has always believed in providing a holistic approach to education that nurtures students’ physical, intellectual, and spiritual development,” McGee said. “These new athletics offerings will enable more student-athletes to benefit from an academically strong Christian liberal arts education at Eastern Nazarene College.”

The NCAA Division III intercollegiate men’s volleyball season stretches from January to April. The Lions will compete at the Lahue Physical Education Center, the hub of Eastern Nazarene College athletics.

The men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams will begin competition in the spring of 2017. The Lions will use the City of Quincy’s newly renovated Faxon Field as practice space and for future competitions.

A national search will be conducted for a men’s and women’s track and field head coach, as well as a men’s and women’s volleyball head coach.
