A new partnership between Mount Vernon Nazarene University and Nazarene Theological Seminary will allow students to complete Master of Ministry (MMin) and Master of Divinity (MDiv) degrees with coursework that meets both programs' requirements, saving time and money.

The Association of Theological Schools, a national accrediting body, allows students who finish graduate programs to transfer appropriate credit hours toward their next degree program. By identifying candidates before degree completion, MVNU can help students transfer 27 of the 30 hours of their MMin coursework toward the 76 hours required for NTS's MDiv program.

"This partnership between MVNU and NTS highlights a shared goal — to prepare men and women to live out the call of God on their lives," said Amy Kovach, MVNU vice president for Academic Affairs. "We are better together, and this opportunity allows students to learn from experts and grow in their faith during their time at MVNU and NTS. Through this partnership, students will earn a Master of Ministry from MVNU and have an affordable path to a Master of Divinity from NTS. We are confident that God will use students' experiences from both institutions to further his kingdom."

MVNU and NTS will work collaboratively to ensure coursework meets proper requirements and is transferable between institutions. In addition, faculty mentors will help MVNU students transition easily to their MDiv program at NTS.

"The NTS-MVNU Pastoral Preparation Partnership signals a mutual commitment to developing future leaders in the church," said Heather Bryant, NTS dean for Enrollment and Marketing. "Together, Nazarene Theological Seminary and Mount Vernon Nazarene University aim to provide increasingly affordable, accessible, and relevant pathways for vocational and ministerial training."
