MNU appoints Nancy Damron as vice president for academic affairs

MidAmerica Nazarene University President David Spittal announced the appointment of Nancy Damron as vice president of academic affairs, effective immediately. Damron has served in this role in an interim capacity since 1 February. Prior to that, she was dean of the College of Arts and Sciences after serving as dean of the School of Education.

“Dr. Damron is an outstanding educator and leader who brings a wealth of expertise and experience to this new role,” Spittal said. “Her commitment to high standards of excellence, quality teaching, and learning and innovative programs will support and enhance our university’s strategic goals.”

Damron began her career teaching social studies at Blue Valley North High School and Blue Valley West High School. She later served as district coordinating teacher for social studies and diversity programs.

In 2017, she was recognized at MNU as Administrator of the Year having gained numerous awards and honors throughout her career, including Blue Valley North High School Teacher of the Year in 1999. Damron also served as consultant and presenter for many professional organizations and schools.

She is an alumnus of MNU having earned a Bachelor of Arts in secondary education – Social Studies and a Master of Arts in education. She earned a Doctor of Philosophy in curriculum and instruction from the University of Kansas.
