Bolivia youth conference encourages national outreach

by | 02 Jul 2019

After four years of planning and preparation, the Bolivia Nazarene Youth International and Bolivian National Communications Ministry teams organized a national youth conference called Despertar 19 (Awakening 19). Approximately 200 youth from all six Bolivia district attended the event, held 21-23 June in Cochabamba at the Colcapirhua Christian retreat center.

National NYI Coordinator Pablo Luis Suárez and National Communications Coordinator Juan Jose Peralta were in charge of organizing the event, which was broadcast live on the Bolivia NYI Facebook page. The youth from the Bolivia Central District worked alongside the District Superintendent Guido Delgadillo and his wife, Silvia, to help organize the event logistics.

Some of the other leaders present included Global NYI Director David González, South America Regional NYI President Christiano Malta, Regional Sunday School and Discipleship Ministries Coordinator Patricia Picavea, and Colombia NYI Coordinator Juan David Herrera.

Participants selected from 13 workshops that offered essential tools for developing a contemporary youth ministry. There were also five worship services and a call for participants to passionately and genuinely reach the youth across Bolivia.

Despertar 19 concluded with the celebration of holy communion, and the leadership was challenged to organize another national youth event on a different district in 2022.
