Hispanic/Latino National Congress gathers pastors, leaders from across region
The quadrennial Hispanic/Latino National Congress was held from June 15 to 17 at Southern Nazarene University under the theme "Honoring the past, celebrating the present, anticipating the future: Vision 2020."
"The congress was a wonderful Nazarene family reunion from different USA/Canada Hispanic/Latino ministries and districts," said Roberto Hodgson, Multicultural Ministries director.
The Hispanic Strategy Committee and Casa Nazarena de Publicaciones sponsored the congress. Speakers at the event were General Superintendent Gustavo A. Crocker, retired elder Jose Rodriguez, and Hodgson.
The planning committee worked to organize services, plenary sessions, and workshops to provide a variety of resources for pastors, leaders, and youth as they serve in their unique ministries and contexts. Organizers hoped the congress would inspire and equip the participants to fulfill the mission of the church to make Christlike disciples in the nations.
"The attendance surpassed expectations," Hodgson said. "The goal was 200 participants and final registration was over 270. Glory to God!"
Among the numerous comments from participants were expressions of satisfaction for a useful and inspiring time together.
The next quadrennial congress, titled "Vision 2020," will be held in June 2020.
