Kentucky Church takes food service on the road

(Pioneernews.net 3 June 2020) The Nazarene Pantry, a Dare to Care partner, hosted by the Shepherdsville First Church of the Nazarene, has purchased a 2013 Dodge Caravan for use in food box deliveries.

Church pastor Rob Beckett said funding for the used van was donated through the Bullitt County COVID-19 Relief Fund committee.

“We provide this service for a lot of people that are transportation-challenged,” Beckett said. “If they have no car, or no license, or their vehicle is not working.”

(jacksonnewspapers.com 26 June 2020) When Arianna Barr heard from her friend, Emily Blackburn, that the Ripley Church of the Nazarene had a baby pantry, she wondered what they might need. Barr, who is the reigning Junior Miss Chocolate Festival Queen, asked her mom to help her find out.

“I had known Emily’s mom, Cindy, for a long time,” Julie Barr said. “So we already had a connection established.”

They were told the greatest needs were diapers, wipes, and formula. With the high cost of these items, Arianna and her mom decided they needed to come up with a plan to raise funds.

(indeonline.com 22 June 2020)  “When I heard that Peggy, who I befriended as a member of the Loudonville Church of the Nazarene, was retiring, I told her I would volunteer to help in any way I could,” Morris said. “She told Susie Piskur, president of the Loudonville Church Women, of my interest, they talked, and the next thing I knew they asked me to be manager.”

“We were thrilled that Phyllis showed an interest,” Piskur said. “She has the attributes necessary to do a good job in all phases of the operation.”

Her job as The Store manager is to be in charge of its running, including working with volunteers and serving as the liaison between the Church of the Nazarene, in whose church facility The Store is operated, and the Loudonville Church Women. She currently has a team of approximately eight volunteers.

New York church offering drive-in services

(Press & Sun-Bulletin 15 June 2020) The Endicott Community Church of the Nazarene is holding drive-in services in the parking lot of the church, said the church’s lead pastor, Rev. Keith Hardy.

“We bring our worship team outside,” he said. “Everything is outside.”

Like many local churches, the Endicott Community Church of the Nazarene began live streaming Sunday services through Facebook for church members to watch at home on their computers or smart phones back in March after the state shut down schools and most businesses in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. New York State is now undergoing a gradual reopening in phases and by region, with Broome County entering phase three of the four part reopening plan on Friday.
