How was your summer? Exciting, long, hot, fun, full of camps, Vacation Bible School, and other rewarding events? I hope so. If your summer was short on excitement, buckle up and grab your quizzing books because have we got a season for you! 1 and 2 Samuel are full of stories and memory verses that are going to settle deep within your heart.
I’ve experienced many different cultures in my life. Culture is the set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterize a society and/or an organization. Culture helps shape how we understand our world and our place in it. As Christians, we need to know what the Christian culture is.
For the next few moments, I want you to use your imagination to jump forward eight months.
Discipleship is invitation.
Not the kind of invitation you send in the mail, but the kind of invitation that my coworker continued to extend to me over and over: not pushy, but tenacious and delightful, always inviting me to come and join in with her church family (Lynchburg Church of the Nazarene), despite my constant denial.
What does God’s grace look like? It comes in all shapes and sizes and ages and faces. As I look back over my life — my Journey of Grace — I’m amazed at how God has not only provided the grace-filled pathway, but also the people to help me along that pathway by displaying and serving as a conduit of His grace to me.
