David Dayhoff, 85, of Cumberland, Maryland, passed away on 8 August 2023. He served as pastor of Cumberland Bethel Church of the Nazarene since 1962. He is survived by his wife, Janet Dayhoff.

David was born in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, to Birnie Franklin and Beulah (Rudisill) Dayhoff, the youngest of 11 children.

From humble beginnings as a Pennsylvania farm boy, David answered the call to ministry, attending Messiah College and then serving in several ministerial positions around his hometown of Hanover, Pennsylvania.

In 1962, he accepted an appointment to pastor Bethel Church of Nazarene in Cumberland, Maryland. This turned out to be his life’s work, spanning over 60 years. At the time of his death, he was the longest-serving active pastor of a single Church of the Nazarene.

Dayhoff was known for his perseverance, convictions, and strong work ethic. He had a deep love for people and a desire that all would come to know Jesus Christ. His church family will remember him for the countless lives he’s touched as a humble and faithful servant, a godly leader, a prayer warrior, and a loving, compassionate man of God.

He is survived by the love of his life and spouse of 66 years, Janet Arlene (Plunkert); three sons, Davis, Marcus, and Jairus; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
