Medina woman’s decision benefited America’s youngest face-transplant recipient

Medina, Ohio

(Akron Beacon Journal, 23 June) Sandra Bennington, a member at Medina Church of the Nazarene in Ohio, recently shared during church how her granddaughter's death gave another Ohio resident a second chance at living a normal life.

Sandra had been raising her granddaughter, Adrea, for more than 10 years, until she passed away in 2017. At that time, Sandra heard that 25-year-old Katie Stubblefield needed a face transplant after a 2014 accident left her face irreparable. Sandra was moved to action, so she donated her granddaughter Adrea's face to Katie.

Now, for the first time in five years, Katie has no operation on her personal calendar, and she and her parents attended church service with Sandra to share their story of redemption.

Frayser church hosts drive-thru prayer in wake of recent community unrest

Memphis, Tennessee

(WREG Memphis, 29 June) Emmanuel Church of Nazarene in Memphis, Tennessee, found a unique way to comfort and reach out to the community after a local man was recently shot.

The congregation began offering their drive-thru prayer ministry twice a month to meet community members where they are and to encourage other local churches to offer similar ministries amid civil unrest.

"They need this," said Sharita Jackson, event organizer. "You have a lot of people that are out here hurting. They're not going to come into the church, so we have to come out and meet them where they're at."

Bandera peru
Caption
