Lloyd Brock has been appointed superintendent of the Northwestern Illinois District. The appointment was made by General Superintendent David Graves in consultation with the Northwestern Illinois District Advisory Committee, USA/Canada Regional Director Stan Reeder, and the Board of General Superintendents.

“I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve Jesus Christ and this beloved district,” Brock said. “The privilege to serve on this district as lead pastor at Pekin First for 15 years has been remarkable. I am looking forward to how God will use our great team of ministers and laymen to continue to build His Church across Northwestern Illinois.”

Brock replaces Scott Sherwood, who has led the district since 2012. Sherwood was recently elected president of Nazarene Bible College. Brock takes office on 1 July 2021.

Originally from South Carolina, Brock grew up in the Hartsville Church of the Nazarene and graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University in 1983 with a bachelor’s degree in pastoral ministry. In 1986, he earned a Master of Divinity from Nazarene Theological Seminary.

He was ordained on the North Carolina District in 1988 and served as a lead pastor in Shelby, North Carolina (1986-1991), Hartsville, South Carolina (1991-2000), Charlotte, North Carolina (2000-2006), and Pekin, Illinois (2006-2021).

Brock and his wife, Kim, currently reside in Pekin, Illinois.
