Youth from across Peru united for an online activity called One Fest with the emphasis “We are Community.” More than 1,500 participants connected live 22 August, and 68,000 people have watched the event online.

The activity included special presentations by the districts of Peru, including music videos, choreographies, presentations of songs, skits, paintings, and other talents. In addition, singer Ingrid Rosario and comedian José Ordoñez performed for the event.

“I thank God for this event,” said one participant. “I had a heart of stone, but God touched my life tonight.”

Seeing the impact of the event on others also affected Edwin Navarro, a participant from the Peru Central District.

“I thank God for having allowed this festival to take place,” Navarro said. “Today I am encouraged to continue sharing the love of God, whatever the means in which we can do it, because God will continue to speak.”

The goal of the event, according to Daniel Huamachumo, Peru national Nazarene Youth International coordinator, was to accomplish three points: Unite as a national NYI, provide a space for youth interaction, and to show the gospel of salvation through art.

“With this festival, the youth not only represented our district, but each participant brought a message of salvation to the people who watched the program,” Huamachumo said. “We feel that it is the moment of the youth. No one should belittle them for being young. God is raising up a new generation in our country, and we want to help this generation worship Him in spirit and in truth.”
