Mount Vernon Nazarene University will now offer a Bachelor of Arts in Public Safety Administration to meet the educational needs of adults presently working in the public safety sector. The program provides students with an opportunity to explore a management career in public safety or to advance their current positions within the system.
The field of public safety is growing and many new opportunities have evolved at the local, state, and national levels. Through the sequence of courses offered in MVNU’s Bachelor of Arts in Public Safety Administration program, students are encouraged to find ways to integrate both the philosophy and practice of restorative justice into their academic and professional pursuits. Students attend classes online and can earn their degree in approximately 23 months.
The program encourages the development of the whole person through a sequenced curriculum that integrates increasingly advanced cognitive, social, and interpersonal skills and places an emphasis on values, ethics, and spiritual growth. The curriculum prepares students to succeed in a public safety administration career or graduate program by equipping them with foundational knowledge and abilities relevant to their future career. In addition, students are given the opportunity to enhance their critical thinking skills, explore the legal and political framework surrounding public safety, learn best practices and relevant theories, and ask questions about the moral and ethical implications of current public safety practices.
