The Board of General Superintendents has elected Kafoa Muaror to the position of Asia-Pacific regional director, effective 1 September 2024.

The Church of the Nazarene's General Board ratified the election with an email vote coordinated by General Secretary Gary Hartke. Gustavo Crocker, jurisdictional general superintendent for Asia-Pacific, and Jim Ritchie, Global Missions director, prayerfully led the nomination and election process.

"As a global denomination, the selection of Dr. Muaror is a reflection of the Missiological principle that the seed for the future harvest comes from the harvest itself," Crocker said. "Dr. Muaror is a product of the Nazarene missionary work, and he is now embracing the task of leading our missional efforts in Asia-Pacific."

Global Missions Director Jim Ritchie said he is "thrilled with the appointment of Dr. Kafoa Muaror as the new regional director of Asia-Pacific."

"Kafoa is a gifted and experienced leader with a passion for Jesus, the church, and the work in Asia-Pacific," Ritchie said. "He and his wife Aggie will be a great blessing to the global regional director's team, and Maggie and I welcome them with warm hearts and much prayer."

Muaror succeeds Mark Louw, who was elected Eurasia regional director in June 2024.

Muaror was ordained as an elder in 2010 and served as senior Pastor of the New Beginnings Church of the Nazarene in Fiji from 2009 to 2014. In 2014, he was elected district superintendent for the Fiji District until he was appointed strategy coordinator for the Melanesia South Pacific Field in June 2019.

In 1993, Dr. Muaror completed the Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws in Australia. In 1995, he was awarded a scholarship to pursue an executive course in Financial Institution for Private Enterprise Development at Harvard Law School in Massachusetts, USA.

Muaror has served on various church boards, including Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary and the General Board of the Church of the Nazarene Inc., where he served as president.

Kafoa is married to Aggie, and together, they were commissioned by the General Board in February 2019 to serve as global church missionaries in Papua New Guinea, where they currently reside and serve God and the church with their three young children.
