Karla Burguette, children’s pastor, worship leader, and interpreter at San Angelo, Texas, First Church of the Nazarene, passed away unexpectedly 11 January. She was 24 years old.

She was born in 1994 in Monterrey, Mexico. Karla immigrated with her family to Noel, Missouri in 2004 where they joined the local Church of the Nazarene. At the age of 13, Karla began music lessons and joined the worship team at their church. Three years later, she received her call to ministry. In 2011, they moved to Austin, Texas, where Karla graduated high school.

Karla and her parents received a local license at the same time in 2014. One year later, they moved to San Angelo to reopen the local Nazarene church that had previously closed. That year, they all received their district minister’s licenses from the South Texas District. She has been serving the church as children’s pastor and worship leader ever since.

“It was a blessing seeing Karla serve the Lord,” said Sandra Burguette, Karla’s mother.

She is survived by her parents, Jorge and Sandra; her brother, Alberto; and her fiancé, Amaury Jimenez.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. 26 January at the San Angelo First Church of the Nazarene.

Prayer is requested for the Burguette and church families.
